“So can you tell me what happened?”
Shawn coaxed to a distraught Mimi who now consisted on a couch in the apartment that she and Belle both shared. The abroad look in her eyes told all; though, sadness and despair of obscurity seething with in, as if torturing her very being for the decision she had made to leave him. Maybe even guilt was evident along with worry plaguing her mind. Would he be ok, what if he needs medical attention, would they find him in time, Questions one could never know the answer to on less present when such a conjuncture took place, present that’s what she wasn’t, how could she just leave him there…helpless after all he had been through? So what if Rex had a temper with a life like his who could blame him, He was genetically engineered in a test tube for god sakes, spending most of his life locked up only with his twin sister for company, then studied like some kind of animal! How much was one person supposed to endure? And now being forced to live a lie, yet he didn’t know better he couldn’t have known better with out that sort of experience one gains from well… just living and ordinary life.
“Mimi…Mimi?”
Shawn stared forebodingly at the dazed expression outlining her exterior; she had it bad, real bad. Even though Shawn never really approved of Rex and her dating him especially after the events occurring lately and his suspicious activity, Shawn knew she cared for him, loved him even, Anthony was proof of that. Thinking back to that forth of July meteor shower Shawn remembered the believed to be aliens they had saved on the hillside, no memory of who they were or where they had come from, so innocent, but yet they had become friend’s; that may had even helped strengthen his relationship with Belle the one he loved. A glimmer of hope that maybe differences could be worked past in order to insure a blissful future to make up for the past and time the twins had lost.
“I’ve got to go help him, how could I have left when he was this upset!”
Mimi scolded as if mad at her self for leaving.
“Hey we all have emotions and we all do things we later regret, it’s okay your only human.”
Shawn tried to console but she was already out the door murmuring a quick thank-you as she left. He hadn’t really done anything to deserve it, just allowed her time to calm down and think things through rationally, now maybe she could do the same thing with Rex.
“What happened?”
Anthony demanded in a worried tone, as Shawn re-entered his apartment.
“Don’t worry I think she just needed time to collect her thoughts, she’s gone back over to your Dad’s as we speak.”
Shawn replied with a slight smile, it really was obvious that Mimi had to be Anthony’s mother just by his attitude towards the world, very similar to hers except for maybe the super genius aspect of things.
Anthony relaxed a little as he eased himself back down on the couch, still aching from the nights proceedings.
“So you can really tell us who the killer is?”<br>
Shawn questioned, staring down at Anthony’s outspread from, but there was no answer only silence, the combination of a head wound and hypothermia had knocked Anthony out cold, he needed to recover so whether liked or not answers would have to wait until morning.
Across town Mimi now stood at the entrance of Rex’s bedroom, that old fear entrapped her once more but the worry for his well being was stronger. Bent set on convincing him that his last name didn’t matter as long as it didn’t affect who he truly was inside.
“Rex?” she questioned timidly as she ascended into his room. At first there was no reply but then a muffled “I thought I told you to leave me alone!” could be faintly heard beneath Rex’s poignant form. It was very weak as he lay still coiled up on the floor never moving since Mimi had left.
“Is your headache still bad?”
She inquired distraughtly ignoring the comments to leave. He just glared icily before wincing in pain as a rapid convulsion shook his body. Mimi ran to the bathroom just down the hall grabbing two tablets of aspirin and a cool cloth; then rushing back in order to administer the subordinate treatment.
With a sad sigh she had coaxed him into to taking off his shirt and getting into bed, while the pain killers took their toll on both his mind and his spirit. Rex now watched her with drowsy eyes as she changed the cloth on his forehead, a fever had spiked and needed to be kept down. Mimi’s face laced with worry for she was forced to watch her boyfriend, her lover, the one she wanted to spend the rest of her life with go though this horrible nightmare, but at least she could be with him now, maybe not always but at least now. He really was exhausted; partly from the night it self but more so from the headaches that followed, in his feverish state there wasn’t really much he could do only drift off to sleep under the watchful eyes of his girlfriend; the one that he would soon realize loved him no matter what.
Thanks for your feedback, sorry this took so long but I had LOTS of homework, I’ll try to have the next chapter out the weekend.
