***Ok I found out Brian’s Name has been changed to Patrick, I like Brian a lot better but we’ll say Patrick is his really name but he changed his name to Brian when he joined the CIA in order to protect his family.***
Power Plays Chapter 2: Rising Storm
Daylight came all but to swiftly for Brian’s liking, he now found himself sitting aboard a large 747 property of the CIA, staring aimlessly over the distant horizon a symbolic admonition of what he had become, the cold fearless yet volatile Fed accommodated for his courage and quick thinking in nasty situations, a hero of sorts, living the life of glory. But with every victory came loneliness, one feet Brian just had to learn the hard way, however the matter, he had made a life for himself, that no longer seemed so well… substantial in the grand scheme of things. What was important now was human life no matter how badly Brian felt, he couldn’t run from his problems any longer, all things catch up eventually. It would be nice to see them again though his mother and his sister who apparently had a new boy friend, Brian smirked at this always being the over protective big brother, he’d be running a background check on this guy when all was said and done ahhh just another perk of working with the CIA, unlimited resources. Speaking of the CIA, his cell lit up flaring the familiar seven digit code that he had learned to despise over the years, “what the hell do ya want now?” Brian growled have jokingly at Chase on the other end.
“I just wanted to confirm your ETA…nothing better to do.”
“Plane will be touching down in about half an hour local time… You called me for that? Hell Chase, Murdock’s probably going to fire you just for tying up an agency phone line, your on thin ice with him anyway don’t go making things worse!”
“Alright, alright I get the point, God you are grouchy first thing in the morning aren’t ya? Well anyways the real reason I called was that Ivers put me on processing and we’ve uncovered a new lead… turns out the bomb was purchased by a terrorist group named Second Wave, it’s a former soviet nuke, relic from the cold war and is being shipped from Kosovo sometime within the next few months, Orders straight from Murdock are not to intercept on till it gets on American soil, safer that way, honestly I think the guy’s nuts but he has experience to back it up. You’re to meet with our counter terrorist division in Salem for further instructions, headed up by a director Mason…first names George I think, some say he’s a real piece of work, ha-ha good luck with that one pal,”
“Gee thanks” Brian seethed in the usual sarcastic tone before murmuring a quick formal good-bye into the receiver and hanging up.
The next 30 minutes passed more then a little to quickly as Brian now found himself standing silently in the airport of his home town, Salem USA. God he still loathed this place even after all these years. Grabbing his baggage from the coral Brian prepared himself to face what he had run from for so long his past. Not only had he run from it but he had avoided those who he held dear, the worry that must have gone though he could only imagine, oh well maybe now things could change, he could change.
Brian unlocked his apartment with a swift click of the key; this would be where he’d be staying for the next few months on till the whole nuke in the city situation was resolved. It seemed like a rather homely place really leather couch, laptop computer, well stocked fridge and an impressive view of Salem all complements of the CIA, to think this is where the tax dollars all went.
With hours to spear until he made contact with Mason and his team Brian decided to flip on the television, see what was going on in present day Salem.
“Now for our top story tonight, a young lady by the name of Cassie Dimera was brutally murdered yet another victim of the Serial Killer…”
Wow I leave for a while and the place goes to hell Brian thinks; worry now proclaiming his features, What if? Naw I’m sure there fine both Mom and Mimi are tough they can take care of them selves. It never really occurred to him that maybe they did need him, even though he knew that after he left it tore the family apart, his parents divorced, Dad actually leaving his mom, Mimi, and their youngest brother Conner on the streets with nothing. But still with that knowledge Brian couldn’t return, sure he had lots of money practically millions collected from his Field Ops missions, just not the guts to send it. They wouldn’t have accepted his help anyway at least that’s what he told himself, they hated him for leaving, he had even considered making an anonymous donation but before the courage could be gathered up Belle and Shawn and some of Mimi’s other friends rallied together in order to build them a new place to live. At least they were safe that’s all that mattered now, he’d even changed his name to ensure that, it used to be Patrick…Patrick Lockhart but after joining the CIA, the last thing he wanted was some burned out rouge assassin bearing rifles to trace back to them, so he changed it for their safety, now only named as Brian… special agent Brian Lockhart.
“I told you to leave me alone now GO AWAY!”
He heard a cold voice clamour from across the hall. Being the agent that he was Brian liked to know his surroundings all the better to adapt; He’d obviously taken way too many of those Fed training courses and felt the need to investigate.
“LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!”
The voice snapped again, Brian was now standing in the hall snarling at the site before him; a male, seeming about 6-1 short brown hair grasping his sister who just stood there gasping for breath. That’s all he could take as he watched her diminutive form sobbing weakly, with anger blazing inside of him and old CIA combat instincts dominating his mind Brian growled a few curses before pining that guy to the ground, body falling limp as it made contact with a dull thud to the floor.
Mimi just stood there in udder shock, her boy friend…her brother?
“Patrick? ... What did you do?”
“What did I do!!!? Mimi that guy tried to kill you”
“No I love him, he just lost his sister he was upset and taking his anger out on me, look he’s a nice guy really he is, but sometimes, Rex can have these really bad headaches, and get a little… violent he never hurts me or anything…”
“Rex? Sounds like something you’d call a dog”
Brian quipped still finding it hard to believe this, he has her by the throat and she defends him? Then again Mimi always did have good judgement when it came to people. He looked over to see those cerulean blue eyes pleading with him to help. Maybe she was right he didn’t know. Brian sighed deeply looking from his sister to the crumpled heap on the floor.
“Please he had a ruff life, the only family he ever known is dead.”
“Fine” Brian half snarled, “Help me get him inside.”
***
“Hmm… He’s got a nasty head wound” Brian commented trying to avoid the deadly silence proclaiming it’s self within the tiny apartment. “So what happened to his sister anyways?”
“She… was murdered by the serial killer; he found her body inside the piñata at the fall festival in Salem place.” Mimi replied sadly
“And he was taking this out on… you?”
“Yeah, I…I didn’t want him to go though this all alone, that’s how he spent his whole life a prisoner of Stefano's, he was upset and took it out on me, he didn’t mean it, I know that.”
“Alright Meems I trust you, I’ve done some things out of anger that I didn’t mean as well, leaving for one… I will give him the benefit of the doubt.”
How could Brian really say no he loved her way to much and felt that leaving had hurt her enough, perhaps it was a good thing he came back, new chances lay before him, to make things right with his family and himself.”
A low moan caught Brian’s attention, emitting from the figure lying on his couch.
“Rex are you ok sweetheart?” Mimi questioned with worry, but she saw something different in his eyes confusion almost, as he looked around the room in dismay.
“Rex? Is that my name?” Came the slow careful response.
Brian inhaled sharply, staring now only at the shock on his sisters face and the disorientation on Rex’s; what had he done.
