Crimson Tears Chapter 8
Anthony gazed sadly among the site before him, a girl in her mid 20’s lay silently on the brumal adamantine pavement. Rex’s sister… his aunt, not moving… so quiet. Oh how he loathed the laconism in all its obscurities, obsolete to the rest of the world but dominant within him. It scared him almost, maybe not the fixation that he was actually here coexisting with these…these people but more so the preoccupation that he had the capabilities to diversify what was forthcoming; Cassie’s life more in particular. At least she was alive Anthony kept telling himself, unconscious but alive. That’s what she had been like when he’d found her just lying there on the ground, He knew for sure the killer was near, a despondent scalpel discarded a few feet away, but that wasn’t any of his concern now, Anthony knew who the killer was; getting her to safety was the main thing in play.
“Cassie?”
He rasped quietly trying to determine just how out of it she was; sure enough no response, only a nasty looking cut on her head. The dilemma was: what to do now, it wasn’t like you could randomly go up to the Dimera mansion and say something along the lines of ‘hey, I’m from the future and I saved Cassie here from being killed’ that would never work, even if he tried to sneak her in; one of Tony’s men were bound to see him, then where would he be. As far as Anthony could tell the best option for now would be to bring her back to Shawn’s at least then she’d be safe and they’d be able to keep an eye on her.

“Rex?”
Mimi tried again, this time being acknowledged by a weak moan in response.
“How are you feeling?”
He just looked away, eyes still clouded and feverish from raging hell he called reality. There was something else there though, loneliness perhaps maybe even a little confusion over the presidencies of the past few hours.
“I’m sorry.”
She started unsure about how exactly he was going to react in this state.
“I know I shouldn’t have left you, but I needed to get away, think things through; but I’m here now. I…I love you.”
“I love you too Mimi”
He whispered, throat crackling from dehydration, yet still finding the strength to envelop her in a tight embrace; before drifting back into a fitful sleep no longer haunted by past uncertainties.

“Where have you been?”
Shawn snapped as Anthony opened the door to the small apartment, but he was not alone Cassie’s silent unmoving form hung limply in Anthony’s arms.
“Saving a victim”
“Cassie?”
“She would have been the 5th immolation of the Salem Stalker if I hadn’t intervened, look I’m sorry I left with out telling you but I just had to save her; she would have been murdered in the ally behind Salem Place and stuffed into the fall festival piñata. There was no way I could let that happen so I scared off the killer; she was like this when I found her.”
Shawn just sighed how could he really be mad? Anthony left to save a life and he did, one less victim of the serial killer.
“Go put her on Rex’s bed… second door on the left.” Came his bleak reply, before fetching a first aid kit and following Anthony into the bedroom.

“Damn it!” Marlena cursed “Should have killed her when I had the chance” The wind wrapped around her, binding the darkness with in her soul as she now stood at the scene of the ‘would have been’ crime. It wasn’t worth the risk Marlena told herself over and over; after hearing someone coming she had thrown a quivering Cassie to the ground knocking her unconscious in the process. The scalpel gleamed demonically within her hands awaiting its master’s every desire. The lust for blood burned fiercely corrupting Marlena, moulding her to it’s every will, a perfect crime; Cassie would pay with her life. So would anyone else who dared cross her path.
***
“So now will you tell me who the killer is?” articulated while finishing up the bandaging Cassie’s wounds
Anthony paused unsure of how exactly to approach this, theoretically this couldn’t be done, if he told the killers identity, Shawn wouldn’t be the one to figure it out in the future, this could cause a rift in the time space continuum, things would be thrown out of balance and the killer may never be caught. He probably wouldn’t believe him anyway.
“…No I’m afraid I can’t do that Shawn.” Anthony sighed unsure how the news would be taken.
“What? But you said…”
“No I said I’d help you stop the killer, I didn’t concatenate anything about the killer’s identity and I don’t intend to. That is something you need to figure out all on your own, my main concern is the victims. Sorry”
Anthony didn’t know what else to say, Shawn seemed upset but the fact that Anthony was trying to save the victims seemed to equal things out a little. Here he was in a different time with people he never even met do to death and other situations, yet was trying so hard to change things; you’d really have to commend that about him.
“Shawn???”
A familiar voice pierced through the somewhat awkward silence followed by the click of a door opening.
“Quick hide”
Shawn breathed while stuffing Anthony into a closet on the far side of Rex’s bedroom. He knew that voice all to well, Belle his true love who he’d sent off to Paris in until this was all over. But what was she doing back?”
“Shawn I loved you to much to be away from you for another second”
Belle stopped in her tracks when the bedroom came into view, there he was her long lost love sitting at the end of Rex’s bed, but there was something wrong…another woman on the bed…Cassie! She’d been all over him since first arriving in Salem… he’d actually given in?
Belle didn’t know what to do, pure shock proclaiming her features followed by anger, the kind that welled with in one’s soul flaring only when circumstances are at most dire.
“Shawn how…how could you?” she stammered unsure of what to say… so she turned and left, tears burning down her face, staining her usually blissful cerulean eyes now ashen with the morning light. How could he do this to them, to their love, how could he do this to her.
