“Come on Rex, isn’t it better now that everyone knows the truth, you don’t have to hide it anymore.”
Mimi tried to console him, as they sat quietly on what use to be Rex’s bed, before he had moved out of the Dimera mansion. This room told a lot about him, littered with books and technical contrivances that just seemed to emanate the pure genius he was, for when Rex and his twin sister had first dismounted in Salem, they were nothing but mere pawns of the Dimera legacy, brainwashed only to abolish and destroy. Then Tony had the nerve to take them under his wing, convince them that they really were equals to the Dimera’s, a patrimony known only to strike fear into the heart’s of others. Blinding these two with the promise of a blissful future, and a family, the one thing they had longed for since their arrival. So they had remained loyal to the Dimera’s began to love them even, just as Mimi had remained loyal to Rex, it seemed like no matter how much he shouted and lost his temper when those excruciating headaches drove him to the brink of insanity, she would always take him back. Maybe truly naïve, refusing to see Rex for who he really was but then again was this really the man she’d fell in love with; the man that would never leave her side when she was sick, the man that never let her down when she needed him, the man that had always made her laugh, no she refused to believe it for when the truth is known, one tends to see things in a different light.
And now Rex was slumped over a disdainful look in his eyes almost of pure anger and disbelief that he the great Rex Dimera was the son of a blue collared Brady, instead of a regal and powerful Dimera, To Rex family meant everything, probably because he had gone with out one for so very long.
“Aren’t you going to say I told you so?”
He quipped with almost a snarl evoking from his cold features, so lonely and vengeful his eyes were, but Mimi knew that in some twisted and sickening way Sami had done the right thing by divulging the stoic truth about Cassie and Rex being Bradys to everyone, at Caroline’s wake. Perhaps now he could be forced to learn, to understand the true concept of family, instead of the deluded Dimera abstraction.
“Rex I would never…”
She started for once unsure of what to say to him,
“Look I love you; you know that so stop making me the enemy, you’re a Brady whether you like it or not.”
“No Mimi I’m not a God damn Brady! Now get out!”
He snapped fury raging from him, along with that familiar pain that seemed to seer though his spine causing his whole body to collapse in under him as he was forced to succumb to his knees. Normally Mimi would be right along side of him, offering that sort of cold comfort as best could be done, however when Rex was in this state that was very little. An aspirin maybe numbing the pain just long enough to keep him conscious, but most times that was highly uncommon as he would just plunge into the depths of oblivion, and it held it’s nefarious grip, for days Rex would be unresponsive to the out side world nothing could be done to wake him, yet when all said and done he usually didn’t remember a thing. But now Mimi just couldn’t do it she couldn’t force herself to endure his temper any longer even if he did need her, for once she couldn’t be there for him. So she left, running out of his room leaving only his crumpled, broken form on the floor to face the nights uncertainties, hot tears now flowed freely down her face as she exited the mansion, like flames blazing with in her heart destroying what was left if their love.

“So you really are a Brady?”
Shawn stared in amazement, still shocked at what now sat in front of him” Yet some how this young genius had Rex written all over him, The same thirst for knowledge flared with in his soul, just like his dad.
“Yep”
Anthony replied half heartedly a smug grin sat pleasantly on his face as he sipped on a cup of hot coco that Shawn had made, almost a futile attempt to get him warm. Anthony now had the chance to analyze where exactly he was, his dad’s and Shawn’s old loft, sports posters seemed to decorate the walls, accompanied by a black leather couch that he now resided on, to the far side window was a telescope, definitely his fathers; pointing out toward a spectacular view of Salem.
A despondent cough seemed to convulse body as fluid filled his lungs it was getting harder and harder for him to maintain a sufficient level of oxygen, definitely a side effect of his prolonged exposure to the hyperborean temperatures that now made themselves present within him.
“Are you sure you don’t need to go to the hospital?”
Shawn asked, genuinely concerned about his young friend.
“Yeah I alright just getting a little bit of a cold”
Anthony tried to smile it was nice to have someone actually concerned about his well being, after his mother died Rex took little notice to him, even when he was sick, no matter how horrible he felt, he spent the day watching over his dad, making sure to much alcohol wasn’t consumed, which seemed now like an everyday task, though Anthony would never let on about. His dad was always a dignified man so even if he was going though a difficult spot in life, Anthony would always be there for him no matter how much he beat him up, or pushed him around. Anthony just knew that somewhere deep inside was the man who always loved him, so he was just returning the favour.
Anthony was jolted awake from his contrivances by an abundant crash seemingly emitted from out side the loft.
“You stay here; I’ll go check it out”
Shawn said as he got up from were he’d been perched. As he slowly thrust open the door his saw a small figure bunched up by the door, it was Mimi, tears flooded her face, cerulean eyes now enveloped in pools of water.
“What’s wrong?”
Shawn asked as he kneeled down to were she now sat, putting one arm around her and pulling her into a hug. For as long as he had known her she had been on of his best friends and to see her like this broke his heart.
“Rex had another one of his mood swings, I just could take it anymore” she sniffed “We…we broke up… for good this time”
Anthony listened covertly from inside the loft, fear and disbelief evident on his features, had his being here have some weird effect on the space time continuum, if that really was the case then in disrupting the delicate balance the universe presides in could have drastic effects on the progression of this time line, he had created a paradox in which he may not even be born. Now he knew that messing with time was an inadvertence that in the end he would pay dearly for. But for now all he could to was, watch and use his decisive mind to play things out in a way that would be both substantial and beneficial to both past and future.
I should have the next chapter up by the end of the week lol.
